While in law school, Abby completed an internship with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). She has represented management teams in acquisitions, including negotiating employment agreements for executives.įor government contractor clients, Abby provides defense in compliance audits conducted by the Department of Labor's Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) and counsels management with respect to Affirmative Action Plans. She is also a strong proponent of utilizing mediation in dispute resolution, and has effectively represented many clients in these procedures, helping them to negotiate and resolve a variety of employment-related claims.Īdditionally, Abby is experienced in guiding clients through the complex employment law issues that arise in mergers and acquisitions and other business transactions. Policy review and revision is another component of Abby's preventive counsel practice, and she routinely works with employers to ensure that their personnel policies align with federal, state, and local employment laws.Ībby is no stranger to the courtroom, and has handled numerous single and multi-plaintiff employment lawsuits on behalf of clients including serving as lead counsel in wage and hour class and collective action lawsuits throughout the country. Abby also guides clients through internal investigations, terminations, and reductions-in-force, with an emphasis on utilizing best practices in these procedures in order to minimize legal risks and prevent litigation when possible. Abby has represented employers in matters involving restrictive covenants, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and has significant experience counseling employers on issues stemming from regulations under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and state wage and hour laws such as employee misclassification, meals and rest breaks, and other wage and hour concerns. ![]()
